A Mansfield Woodhouse mum is calling for greater awareness of Developmental Language Disorder after years of searching for answers about her son’s difficulties.
Summary Caroline Cox's eight-year-old son George was diagnosed last year after experiencing speech and language difficulties from an early age.
DLD is a lifelong condition affecting how people understand and use language, and is estimated to affect around one in 14 people.
Caroline says she spent years seeking answers and wants families to have better access to information and support.
She says simple adjustments, such as speaking more slowly, using clearer instructions and allowing extra thinking time, can make a significant difference.
This year's DLD Awareness Day theme is Together for DLD.
