A 'dangerous' offender narrowly avoided killing his flatmate when he stabbed him with a broken glass.
Police and paramedics were called to a park in North Church Walk, Newark, at 5.50pm on 3 May 2025 after a man was found with puncture wounds in his neck.
He was discovered sat on a park bench and told officers his friend had stabbed him with a broken glass following an argument at the home they shared in North Gate.
After being stabbed, the victim, aged in his 40s, had walked to the park where he was helped by three members of the public.
When police then attended the North Gate address a short time later, Ramis Cetin opened the door in blood-stained clothing and with blood on his hands.
Cetin, aged 62, of North Gate, Newark, was arrested, charged and went on to plead guilty to wounding with intent on the day he was due to stand trial.
At Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday (13 October) he was handed an extended jail sentence of 10 years.
The sentence is made up of seven years in custody followed by a further three years on licence.
