Nottinghamshire Police has chosen the National Foundation for Retired Service Animals as its new Chief Constable’s charity.
The charity supports retired police dogs, police horses and other service animals with veterinary and medical care.
Officers and staff will raise money for the NFRSA through fundraising events over the next 12 months.
The announcement was marked by retired police dog Jimmy returning to the force’s dog section at Sherwood Lodge.
Jimmy, who now lives with handler PC James Sills and his family, is the 700th retired service animal registered with the charity.
Last year, Nottinghamshire Police raised more than £6,000 for Nottinghamshire Blood Bikes.
