Steve Yemm says constituents have raised concerns about the reported closure and decommissioning of the hydrotherapy pool at King’s Mill Hospital.
In a letter to the hospital’s chief executive, he asks for a full explanation of the proposal and the evidence behind it.
He says hydrotherapy can be important for patients with musculoskeletal conditions, chronic pain and mobility problems.
The MP is asking for details on patient numbers, waiting lists, operating costs, consultation and alternative provision.
He also wants confirmation on whether it is the only remaining NHS hospital hydrotherapy pool of its kind in Nottinghamshire.
Yemm says no irreversible decommissioning should take place until the questions have been answered and the impact on patients properly considered.
