Mansfield man banned after ASB complaints

A Mansfield man has been banned from the town centre after complaints about begging and anti-social behaviour outside shops and pubs.

Mansfield District Council has secured an anti-social behaviour injunction against Peter Oxley, of Birkland Street, Mansfield.

The order bans him from entering Mansfield town centre, Mansfield Leisure Park and St Peter’s Retail Park.

It also bans him from falsely claiming to be homeless, begging and harassing members of the public.

The council says members of the public complained he had been persistently begging outside shops and pubs with his dog and became abusive when challenged.

A power of arrest has been attached to the injunction.

Oxley, who did not attend the court hearing, has also been ordered to pay more than £1,100 in court fees.
