An offender who repeatedly stabbed a man with a drill bit has been jailed.
Police were called to Sutton-in-Ashfield around 11.40pm on 23 February 2026 after paramedics reported a man had suffered multiple stab wounds.
Officers found a group of people gathered close to a cashpoint and next to an alleyway in Low Street.
Witnesses reported overhearing an argument about money before seeing a man, later identified as Daniel Brown, launching an attack on another man.
Brown was observed punching the victim before stabbing him multiple times in the back.
Officers identified Brown as a suspect and a short time later located him at a flat in Sutton-in-Ashfield, where he was found asleep under a duvet.
Further investigations allowed officers to locate a sports bag close to some bins nearby and recover both the drill bit and clothing Brown had worn during the attack.
Brown, aged 21, pleaded guilty to attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
He also pleaded guilty to being the owner of a dog which was dangerously out of control and causing injury following an earlier incident on 7 December 2025.
Brown allowed the German Shepherd dog to roam free while walking it in Sutton-in-Ashfield, where it bit a man on the calf, causing a puncture wound and bruising.
At Nottingham Crown Court on Monday (28 September) he was sentenced to three years in jail.
